Don't forget to bring your golf clubs when you come to Mazatlan. That is because, if golfing is what you are interested in fitting into your travel itinerary then Mazatlan has a lot to offer you. There are currently a total of three golf course in Mazatlan, with two of them being of extremely high caliber. The third course, while not nearly of the caliber of the other two is none the less, the most affordable with $15 US green fees.

Offshore Golfing on Picturesque Stone Island at Estrella del Mar

For a truly unique round of golf you have to head offshore. Just wait until you feast your eyes on the waterfront course known as Estrella del Mar that is located on picturesque Stone Island. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., its located in the center of a completely new resort development. Estrella del Mar offers eighteen holes of golf on a well groomed course that is set in an extremely unique, picturesque tropical setting.

The truth of the matter, is that Stone Island isn't really an island at all but rather it is a peninsula but it is called an island, because most access venues to it are by boat. The golf course there is open to the public and can be accessed by car via an access road very close to the entrance to the airport. Also, there are two boat services that can take you there as well and they both leave out of Mazatlan. One operates twenty four hours a day and the other runs from 7am to 7pm.

The El Cid Golf Course in the Golden Zone

The El Cid offers the absolute best in golfing and its easy to find. Designed by Lee Trevino, the course at the El Cid features twenty seven holes of championship golfing on a superbly groomed course. Surrounded by the new marina and located in the center of the Gold Zone, its just a short taxi ride from the best lodging accommodations in Mazatlan or you can stay at the El Cid Hotel. To experience this beautiful course you have to call ahead to make reservations, due to the fact that it is open to the public during the tourist season on a limited basis. However; it is open full time to the public during the tourism off season in the summer.

Club Campestre Golf and Country Club

It is not the best but it is definitely the cheapest course in Mazatlan. This is an older course that offers nine holes of golf that is perfect for the vacationer that wants to stretch their budget. One thing that you have to bear in mind that the weather in Mazatlan in the middle of winter is nothing short of perfect for golfing.

So, if you can put up with a less than perfect golf course, $15 green fees and beautiful weather in the middle of winter is waiting for you at Club Campestre. The country club there has seen better days as well but the beer is ice cold and besides who wants to sit inside a country club in Mazatlan, when they could be out golfing or on the beach.
