The nice thing about Mazatlan condo/home rentals is the properties come with full kitchens and have a lot more space than hotel rooms. Dollar for dollar, for rent by owner properties will give you a lot more value.

Before You Choose Your Rental in Mazatlan Check Out These Quick Tips

Make a short list of things-to-do and questions to ask before you put down your deposit.

  • Are you willing to pay a premium for an ocean view?
  • Home or Mazatlan condo rentals? Which would you prefer?
  • Make sure to see plenty of photos, you'll want to see the interior and exterior of the unit.
  • Ask plenty of questions. What kind of items does the kitchen have? How many people can the unit comfortably sleep? Toiletries?
  • Check reviews from previous guests. What do they say about their experience?
  • What kind of activities do you want to do while you're there. Is the rental in question nearby?

Narrowing down your selection can be a bit overwhelming at first because of the vast amount of properties available to rent. Get your first, second, and third choices together and do some calling or e-mailing. You'll want to know if your dates are available and what the current rates are since the rates change by season. If you're flexible with your travel dates you might be able to save money on last-minute rental deals.

So You've Made Your Selection Among the Pool of Mazatlan Vacation Rentals - Now What?

Make sure you put your mail on hold. Your local post office should have a yellow travel card that you can fillout with your personal details plus the days you'll be gone on a trip. Put it in your mailbox or make a trip to the post office with this card in hand.

Do you have someone taking care of your plants and pets when you're gone (if you're not taking your pets with you)?

Don't forget your electronic chargers: your cellphone and digital camera. You'll need to plug these in at night so you have plenty of energy when you're out sightseeing. If you need new chargers or batteries, you can pick up some pretty decent deals off of E-bay.

When you're packing for your travels, pack half of what you think you need. If you're going to be renting a vacation home or condo you'll be happy to know that a lot of the essentials you thought you need will be provided in the home (just ask). Nonessentials can be easily purchased in Mazatlan - there's a local Walmart!

Looking for Luxury?

El Cid Is a Good Place to Find Villas and Luxury Homes

If you're looking for a mazatlan villa rental check out the El Cid area. This is considered one of the most luxurious parts of the city and has some of the best beach front properties and resorts in the area. Mazatlan house rentals here rent for a higher prices than other areas but this is the best part of town, you're sure to have a good time here. Not only is the beach great but you'll find many nearby amenities.

Getting Around Around the City - Car, Taxi, and Bus

You can of course rent a car down here but around the city you might find taking the bus to be much more convenient and less stressful. If you're not familiar with the roads in Mexico it's probably best to use the bus system, not to mention it's a lot cheaper too! A typical bus ride costs anywhere from 50 cents if its just in the city to up to a dollar or more if you're traveling to one of the outlying cities like Villa Union or Concordia.

Plus there is always the taxi and pulmonia. Pulmonias are open-air taxis that are converted VW bugs, you'll see them around a lot and most are all white. The difference between these and taxis is the price, pulmonia drivers typically try to charge a higher price than taxi drivers.
