If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, then you will be hard pressed to find better roads to travel then in the state of Sinaloa. Wide open uncrowded highways, lazy cops that never write tickets and uncountable miles of back roads that wind through sleepy old towns and along pristine, mist shrouded beaches await you.

Mazatlan Bike Week!

A Few Clubs in Mazatlan

There are a few motorcycle clubs that have factions in Mazatlan and if you have always wanted to join a club then Mazatlan may be the place to do it. All of the motorcycle clubs in Mazatlan are different from many of the clubs north of the border that have gained undesirable reputations over the decades. They are all heavily involved in charity work and and all would much rather spend their time at beach parties then being involved in inter faction divisional nonsense.

Big Rally – Big Fun

There is a big rally known as Semana de La Moto (Bike Week) that takes place on the main road that runs along the Malacon in Mazatlan around the end of the tourist season. Its quite an event and it culminates with a huge motorcycle parade that winds up the Malacon and seems to stretch for miles. If you plan on attending this week long rally then you would be well advised to arrive a little early to make sure that you can get a hotel room, because they all fill up quick that week. Roughly 17,000 bikes participate in the event every year - expect that number to grow.

An Ounce of Prevention Equals a Pound of Cure

Make sure that you get your bike checked out before you leave, if you plan on going on a long putt down through Mexico to Mazatlan. This is because, the last thing that you are going to want is mechanical problems out in the middle of nowhere in Mexico. Remember, also to bring a tool kit and a can of Fix-a-Flat with you. Keep your big money tucked away somewhere and $20 in your wallet to give to the cop in case you are pulled over.
