Perhaps you have heard of the new trend of people “jumping the border” to retire in Mazatlan and have wondered if its all that it is cracked up to be. Are the 80,000 retires that are predicted to arrive in Mazatlan over the next decade all making the right decision? What about health care? Crime? Weird diseases? What about a lot of things?

To begin with, the cost of living is so low in Mazatlan, that many retirees are finding out (ironically) that they can finally afford the home of their dreams “after” they have stopped busting their butt. Food, transportation, GAS, health care, entertainment, etc is all also substantially cheaper then north of the border. In fact, you can still find quaint little eateries in Mazatlan where you can enjoy a great sit down lunch for around three bucks.

A Great Place to Invest

Unlike the U.S, home and property values have been on the rise in the greater Mazatlan area. In fact, in some parts of the Gold Zone property values increased by as much as 75% last year.

Contrary to popular belief, the crime rate in Mazatlan is also far lower then you will find in an American city of comparable size.

A Permenent Vacation

Lastly, with so much to see and do in Mazatlan, living an active and interesting life style is so easy to do. Fishing, golfing, biking, water sports and so much more are all just a short taxi or bus ride away no matter whare you live. Mazatlan has a burgeoning senior community that is made up primarily of older folks that have yet to throw in the towel on life. They have spirit and sense of adventure and as it turns out Mazatlan is just the place for that type of person.
